Hove Town Hall (1999)
There is a dated sense of modernist optimism about Hove Town Hall.
Built in 1971 to replace the old gothic styled building that was irreparably damaged by fire in 1966, its spaces are open and bright, a bureaucratic interior of formica and vinyl. It looks to Europe in style and politics, civic architecture for the people: open, efficient, transparent.
In 2014 an application to English Heritage to make Hove Town Hall a listed building was turned down.
